An unfortunate start to the week as we were dispatched for a structure fire at a home located along the shore of Lake Carmel. As members responded to the firehouse a black cloud of smoke could be seen over Lake Carmel. Kent Police arrived and confirmed what we had expected a working house fire. This home was one of the original Lake Carmel homes sold by the Daily Mirror and had been here since the 1940's. Due to its age and construction the home burnt very quickly and fire was through the roof upon arrival of the Fire department. LCFD had three apparatus on the scene within 12 minutes of dispatch and a water supply secured at a dry hydrant located several hundred feet away. Fire fighters quickly doused the flames however much of the occupants belongings had been lost.
