April 29, 2016

At 0856hrs Lake Carmel Fire Dept was dispatched to Farmers Mills Rd and Gipsy Trail Rd for a reported propane truck rolled on its side leaking. Upon arrival of Chief Jack Keher he established command and requested an immediate road closure at Schrade Rd to divert traffic. The driver was out of the vehicle being tended to by Kent Police until 1771 arrived with PC Medic 4 to take over patient care. The propane truck was a 3500 gal tank with 1500 gals left in it and the hose reel was compromised and leaking.

Kent Fire Dept arrived on scene on the west side of the incident to establish a safety zone. Lake Carmel ambulance transported the driver with non life threating injuries to a near by trauma center.

Representatives from the propane company arrived to shut down the leak. Both fire departments remain on scene until the tow company arrived to upright the tanker and remove it from the roadway.

Road was reopened 1125hrs.
