At around 4am Lake Carmel was requested under automatic mutual aid to Brewster Fire Department to the scene of a working structure fire. Upon our arrival we were assigned as the Fasteam. Our assignment was to watch over and assist any firefighters that may become lost or trapped in the fire. In short order the fire was brought under control and we assisted with searching the home for one of it's occupants that was unaccounted for. Unfortunately the resident was discovered by search crews. Assisting Brewster at the scene were the Croton Falls and Putnam Lake Fire Depts. Carmel and Mill Plain (Ct.) fire depts. provided Tankers due to the rural location of the home. The Putnam Count Bureau of Emergency Services sent Battalion 2 Ron Davies and the Fire Investigation team to the scene. The New York Office of Fire Prevention and Control were notified and sending representatives to the scene. The Putnam County Sheriffs Office and New York State Police were also on hand to assist.
