Fire Consumes Garage on Church Hill Rd

At 1330hrs Lake Carmel Fire Dept was dispatched to a fire in a garage at 103 Church Hill Rd. Kent Police verified large column of smoke coming from that area. Putnam County 911 re-dispatched Lake Carmel FD as well as mutual aid from Kent FD, Brewster FD and East Fishkill FD was requested.

Asst Chief Dave Churchill arrived and assumed command. The detached garage was fully engulfed in flame and instructions were given to incoming apparatus to enter Church Hill Rd via North Horsepound Rd. Due to no hydrants in the area a tanker shuttle was established with tankers from Lake Carmel, East Fishkill, and Kent with the water source set up at South Lake.

The garage collapsed about a half hour after the initial dispatch. Putnam County Fire Investigation team has the fire under investigation.
